A patch is a finished piece of branding heat-applied to the caps, beanies, jackets, bags and workwear you're ordering — the same design across everything you're outfitting, without new setup for each garment. Moulded PVC, debossed leather, traditional stitched twill or full-colour digital, made to your artwork and your shape. Proof back within one business day, and most patch work is ready 7–10 business days after you approve the art.

Four constructions
The construction decides how the patch reads — sharp and modern, worn and heritage, classic and textured, or photographic. Send us the artwork and tell us what it's going on, and we'll tell you which one does your logo justice.
PVC
Moulded rubber. Weatherproof, dimensional, holds bright colour.
Leather
Debossed or laser-etched. Heritage look that ages well.
Stitched
Embroidered twill with a merrowed edge. The classic.
Digital
Full-colour printed. Photographic detail, unlimited colours.
PVC patches
Moulded from soft rubber rather than stitched, so the logo sits proud of the surface with clean raised edges and colour that doesn't fade or fray. It handles rain, sun and washing better than anything else here, which is why it's the standard on packs, outdoor gear and caps that live outside.
Best suited to bold marks with defined shapes — mascots, monograms, badge logos. Fine text and photographic detail belong on a digital patch instead.
Leather patches
Real leather, debossed or laser-etched so the mark is burned into the surface rather than printed on it. It gives a cap the look of something made rather than ordered, and it's become the default for trades, breweries, outfitters and anyone who wants their branding to read as craft.
Leather takes on character as it wears, so the cap looks better in year three than year one. Cut to any outline — a state shape, a shield, your own logo silhouette.
Stitched patches
Embroidered thread on twill with a merrowed edge — the construction people picture when they hear the word patch. It carries the same weight and texture as direct embroidery, but applied as a finished piece, which means it can go onto garments that can't be hooped.
The classic choice for uniforms, clubs, teams and anywhere a patch is part of the tradition rather than just the branding.
Digital patches
Printed rather than stitched or moulded, so there's no colour limit and no minimum detail size. Gradients, photographs, fine type, illustrations with dozens of colours — everything the other constructions have to simplify comes through as drawn.
The right answer when the artwork is too detailed for thread, or when the design has to match a printed brand exactly.
Why a patch instead of embroidering the garment
Direct embroidery is stitched into each individual piece, so every garment carries the setup. A patch is made to your artwork and then applied — which means one design can go onto caps, beanies, jackets and totes in the same order without starting over for each item.
It also opens up garments embroidery can't easily handle. Knit beanies, technical fabrics, waxed canvas, structured caps with foam fronts — all straightforward with a patch, all difficult or impossible to hoop.
And it gives you an embroidered finish without embroidery's per-garment setup, which matters when you're outfitting a mixed order rather than a single style.
How we apply them
We do the application ourselves — patches are heat-applied to the garments in your order, in our Corvallis shop, so your gear arrives finished rather than as a box of parts and a project. Patches are part of an apparel or gear order, the same way screen printing and digital print are.
If you need patches to be removable or swappable, hook-and-loop backing is available on some constructions. Ask your project manager early, since it affects which construction we recommend.
How many should you order?
We'll produce as few as one. But patch production carries setup regardless of quantity, so a very small run costs at or near what 25 pieces would — which is why our project managers recommend 25 or more, and will say so before you commit.
If you need fewer than that, tell us what you're making and we'll look at whether direct embroidery or a digital print gets you there better.
